  • Installs easily on rear coils
    • Inserts between the individual coils of each coil spring

Specs:

  • Application: rear coil spring suspensions
  • Designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order
  • Coil SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. Do not exceed the manufacturer's weight limit for your vehicle.
  • Limited Lifetime warranty
  • 30-Day satisfaction guarantee

Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your rear coil springs to defeat driver fatigue and add better support for heavy loads. Most factory coil suspensions have a difficult time hauling added weight. The rear coils may struggle with supporting the extra load placed on your rear axle when you're towing a trailer or using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while driving to your campsite.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Inside each helper spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils to make your ride more comfortable. Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to the rung of an individual coil in your rear coil springs. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support weight, keeping your truck level.

Unlike air springs that fit inside your coil springs, these polyurethane springs require no air pressure monitoring, and they are easier to install. Say goodbye to air lines, valves and air tanks and hello to maintenance-free suspension support. Unbumpify your ride with Coil SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

2021 Chevrolet Traverse

The Sumo Springs installed easily and definitely hold up the back of the vehicle better and also firmed up the ride , now I want them for the front also. Great product!

by:

The installation was quick and easy. I did remove the tire to ease in the installation, it just made it easier for me. It took longer to stage the pictures for the review than install them. I took a measurement I think I gained a 1/4 to 1/2 inch in lift and doesn’t seem so floaty

by:
2013 Subaru Outback Wagon

The instructions, well!! lack a bit of detail. My first instinct was to return them . I called the manufactures tech line ,and got the 10-36 asap.

........ after that the install was a breeze !!
I am in the opinion these helper springs will stiffen the rear coil enough to balance a heavier tongue or small trailer weight.

Do these work well towing a 2200 lb work trailer hauling a moderate load with a 03 tahoe

Patrick B.

6/10/2014

Depending on what a moderate load is, yes they can offset the trailer tongue weight nicely. Let us know what weight you're working with, it will help give us a better picture of your needs. Also, how far down does the Tahoe squat when you hook up the loaded trailer?

The SumoSprings are just whet we needed. Just that little bit of extra space to pull our UTV trailer without bottoming out.

by:
2009 Mercury Grand Marquis

These coil spring spacers are extremely easy & quick to install. Happy to find these for my 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis.

by:
Kia Soul

Under most conditions the springs do not compress enough to be needed, but pulling our pop up camper with our Kia Soul, they smooth the ride and keep us level

by:
Subaru

Etrailer customer service is always excellent.

This
product installs easily and quickly and performs as claimed. Provided just enough additional compressive loading resistance in conjunction with the rear struts to prevent bottoming out while towing a lightweight pop up camper. Quick fix for folks hauling something with 100 pounds or less of tongue weight.

Tips: 1" overlap worked best on my Subaru. SumoSpring elastomer cut easily and accurately with a band saw. Knife works but the elastomer is slippery and the cut is less than accurate.
As you push the zip ties through their holes put an index finger under the hole on the inside and direct the end of the zip tie upwards to make it easy to retrieve. Make zip ties snug but not so tight they distort the geometry of the elastomer.

Continue to be pleased with the SumoSprings on our 2005 Subaru Outback. The alternative was to spend $800 for new heavy duty rear struts. They work well to prevent bottoming out when towing a camper and dont seem to effect the overall ride quality when not towing a trailer.

Subaru Outback Wagon

We purchased these for our Outback about a year ago. They definitely improved the ride when towing our tear drop trailer, especially over the “washboard” sections of I80 in PA, and some of the logging roads in northern Maine. Our mechanic complimented us on the choice as well. Not needing a total suspension upgrade, these helper-springs are a great alternative for an improved ride for small vehicle lite/medium load road hauling. We’ve made several purchases from e-trailer – these hit the mark like everything else.

These were exactly what My Husband was having a hard time finding.

Coil SumoSprings for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. I ordered the correct springs based on etrailer's website and when it came time to install them, we discovered they were too big. I called etrailer customer service and was fortunate to be connected to Natalie L. Natalie was patient and after a couple of calls, found the springs that work for my vehicle. Natalie updated the website to reflect the accurate part number. Natalie, thank you for making the return process painless. Your customer service was outstanding, Natalie. As an aside, it's difficult finding and keeping good employees. I'd do what I could to keep Natalie.

The replacement springs have been installed and working as expected.

2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Installed this on my 2013 Diesel Cayenne as I put larger tires on it and when hauling trailers it bottomed out. It still does from time to time, but it has been drastically improved.

These work really well to keep the back end of my Subaru Outback from dropping when towing my 5x10 trailer.

by:
2011 Subaru Outback Wagon

Just installed them on my ‘11 Subaru Outback and they appear to function well over 1 short trip. I was initially concerned as following the instructions demanded I trim almost 4” off of them, but a tech at the manufacturer stated it would be fine. I did and installation was a breeze

Can't wait to see how they work with a trailer on my Subaru XV Crosstrek

These items worked great! Easy to install as the video guides helped a ton!

by:

For me it's dont seem to make a big difference. Maybe if i double the kit I will fill it. But it hold nicely in place, they are in place about a year now and the tirap do the job. It's easy to install. But for the price I will figure to replace the coil spring by stronger one.

We have suspension enhancement kits for the rear suspension of your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon like with the Coil SumoSprings kit part # CSS-1094R but there are no Air Lift kits like the # AL61730 that you referenced that are a fit. The SumoSpring kit will give you rear suspension support that won't require maintaining air pressure so it's a maintenance free solution.

  • Can Coil SumoSprings Be Used to Help Level Out a 2014 Volkswagen Touareg Towing a Trailer
Hey David, thanks for reaching out! The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension # CSS-1094R will be a great addition to your towing setup and will help to level out your rig. These are designed to provide progressive help so when you're riding unloaded you shouldn't be feeling this add-on at all. I will say that a properly rated WD hitch should bring a towing setup back into within 1" of being level. Be sure your trailer tongue weight is 10-15% of the overall...

  • SumoSprings Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2009 Subaru Outback Wagon
Yes, there are SumoSprings available that are confirmed to fit your 2009 Subaru Outback Wagon. If you have the H6 engine you would want the part # CSS-1069R. If you do not have the H6 engine you would want the part # CSS-1094R. Other customers who have bought these two part numbers have left reviews saying the install was pretty easy and that removing the wheels helped. Soapy water can also be used if the spring is being stubborn.

The difference between Super Springs Coil Helper Spring kits # CSS-1094 and # CSS-1094R is that the CSS-1094 can be used in either front or rear coil spring applications while the other kit is for rear springs only. For your 2011 Subaru Outback with 3.6L H6 Engine use kit # CSS-1094R on the rear axle. Please note that this item requires some trimming for installation on your vehicle.

  • Will Installing The SumoSprings CSS-1094R On A 2020 Subaru Ascent Lift The Rear When Unloaded?
As the Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1094R will fit in between the slats of the coil spring on your 2020 Subaru Ascent, it will not lift the rear up at all. However, they will definitely help if the back of your vehicle is sagging as they will supplement your factory springs and give them a little support when needed.

  • Parts Needed to Tow Trailer With 2012 Subaru Outback 3.6R
To answer your question about if a 2012 Subaru Outback 3.6R can add a Class III Draw-Tite trailer hitch with a 2" receiver the answer to that is an unequivocal yes! The two Draw-Tite hitches that fit this car are the Draw-Tite # 76227 and # 75673. Of these two hitches I strongly recommend part # 76227 because it does not require drilling to install and also has a hidden crosstube to keep your Outback's appearance clean; the other model does require drilling and has a visible crosstube. • Weight Distribution or Suspension Enhancement for 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon
Since your 2014 Subaru Outback is not rated for use with a weight distribution system the best option would be a suspension enhancement kit that fits your vehicle like the Coil SumoSprings part # CSS-1094R. The Coil Sumo Spring, unlike the AirLift # AL60769 that you referenced, will not have to be adjusted or monitored. I have attached the installation directions, but, basically, they simply fit within your existing coil springs and secures with zip ties.
